Who am I?

"To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting." - E.E. Cummings

Who are you? How would you describe yourself? How do you feel about yourself? How do you feel about your body? How would you answer these questions... do you feel that you are the only one who feels this way? I have created Illustrate Acceptance of Myself ("I Am...") to allow for a creative outlet for us to tell the world how we feel about ourselves and our bodies. My hope is for us to see that we are not as alone in our thoughts about ourselves as we may think we are.

This blog is for everyone of all ages, race, gender, sexuality, religion, etc. The idea is to reveal to the world how we feel about ourselves, whether it be positive or negative. I encourage visitors to this blog to participate anonymously by sending in a handmade postcard to:

I Am...
P.O. Box 70
Southington, CT 06489-0070

The postcard can be on a 3.5x5 card or a 4.25x6 card or any card that can fit in the mail (i.e. a notecard). On the front of the postcard please put "I am..." and fill in the blank with words, phrases, sentences, pictures, colors, images, illustrations, etc. I encourage participates to use this as a creative outlet to show the world who you are and how you feel about yourself. If participants would like to write a message on the back of the postcard describing what the images on their card portray or their story about their postcard this is encouraged but not required. By sending the postcard in your are giving me permission to post the card on this blog for the world to see. Remember it is anonymous. Let us learn from each other and begin to gain acceptance of ourselves.
